From winning national awards and earning degrees from the world’s most elite universities, to mastering foreign languages and having their work published in accredited journals, they each have something unique to offer their students.

Ashley grew up in Dallas, where she attended The Greenhill School and spent her high school summers engaged in writing programs at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. As an undergraduate at Princeton, she was the recipient of the Theodore Weiss Creative Writing award, and worked with Pulitzer-winning poets C.K. Williams and Paul Muldoon to draft her thesis of original work. Afterwards, Ashley was awarded a scholarship from the Ernest L. Ransome Trust to attend graduate school in Scotland. At the University of St. Andrews, she earned an M.Litt Degree with Distinction, the highest level of honors, in Creative Writing. She tutors a wide range of subjects, including the SAT, ACT, and the Literature SAT II Subject Test. Her specialty and passion, though, is college essay guidance.


UC Berkeley, 2006

B.A. Philosophy


Dorian attended UC Berkeley and graduated in 2006 with a degree in Philosophy. Afterwards, he switched coasts, moving to Manhattan to teach high school English as a New York City Teaching Fellow. He then attended the highly selective Iowa Writers' Workshop, where he spent two years intensively studying creative writing to earn his MFA degree. Back in New York, he began tutoring and helped countless students improve their SAT ACT scores. Now based in Baltimore, he tutors part time for Mint Tutors while he finishes writing his novel.

B.A. Art History

University of Dallas

M.A. Humanities Concentration in the Classics


In 2010, Lindsay earned a B.A. in Art History from Southern Methodist University in Texas. Currently, she is studying at the University of Dallas to complete her M.A. degree in Humanities with a concentration in Classics. She has earned numerous accolades for her Latin and Roman history scholarship, including distinctions of Summa Cum Laude on multiple National Latin exams and an induction to the Eta Sigma Phi International Honor Society of the Classical Languages. When Lindsay is not guiding Mint Tutors students through works of Ovid, Horace and Virgil, she is an entrepreneur who runs yoga workshops for her Dallas-based Red Cyprus brand.


Princeton University, 2005

B.S.E Operations Research and Financial Engineering


Matt spent his first two years at Princeton studying Physics, but ultimately earned a degree in Operations Research and Financial Engineering, with certificates both in finance and in Engineering and Management Systems. He was awarded the department's Sigma Xi Prize for his thesis on weather derivatives. Although Matt works full time trading currencies at a hedge fund in Greenwich, Connecticut, he offers his academic counseling services to Mint Tutors students on evenings and weekends. His specialties include math, science, economics, statistics and computer science.

A.B Geosciences


In 2006, Rick graduated Magna Cum Laude from Princeton University with a degree in Geosciences. Following graduation, he took a job with Google, where he analyzed online trends for top clients. After two years, he moved into the non-profit world, running the digital marketing at Greenpeace. In September of 2010, he moved to South Africa to help run and promote a budding non-profit that provides healthcare for HIV positive youth. He is excited to be returning to his hometown of New York and one of his oldest interests, teaching. Rick tutors a wide range of academic subjects, as well as the SAT, ACT, GRE and LSAT.


Yale University, 2005

B.A. History and International Studies


Thomas is a graduate of Yale University where he double-majored in History and International Studies. While at Yale, Thomas was also active in the arts, working at the Yale University Art Gallery and British Art Center, directing the acclaimed a cappella group the Duke's Men of Yale, and singing in the Collegium Musicum, Yale Camerata and Whiffenpoofs. In recognition of his artistic achievements, Thomas received the Stanton Wheeler Award for Outstanding Artistic Contributions at graduation. In addition to his broad experience in the arts and humanities, Thomas also brings knowledge of the life of a student athlete and the recruiting process, having begun his college career as a swimmer. Since graduating, Thomas has taught and tutored a broad range of subjects, but has special experience working on college essays and test prep.


McGill University, 2008

B.A. English Literature and Hispanic Studies


Zoë earned a BA in English Literature and Hispanic Studies from Montreal’s prestigious McGill University in 2008. Before transferring to McGill, she spent three years as an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, and also studied abroad at the University of Barcelona. Afterwards, Zoë moved to Durham, North Carolina, where she worked for an academic publisher while her husband completed his law school degree at Duke. She now lives in New York City, and is pursuing a career in publishing. An avid reader who is fluent in Spanish, Zoë tutors a variety of subjects, primarily grammar improvement, essay writing and SAT I verbal mastery. When not working or reading novels, she fulfills her other passion for food by keeping a blog on the benefits of vegetarianism.
